I really want to come to see your properties
but my husband won't come because he doesn't understand Spanish and he's afraid he won't be able to communicate with anybody oh my God so is there people that think like that you know I I picked this out cuz I can relate to this question I can really relate I mean I'm a traveler I'm going to have a trailer and especially with my wife and we go a lot of places where I don't speak the native tongue
kind of like it Mexico so I guess the topic what would be a good I guess a good topic for this episode is speaking English in Palo Alto Carmen or Mexico
that's easy right that we are not really. Take place at Teresa carry a lot of people actually interested in talking English and even to ristic Style-Rite good morning breakfast orange juice coffee and send note that you need to beautiful's in my room so I am I can relate to this question because you know 16 years ago when I came to Playa I was I was the only one in the family of the family of five
but doesn't speak a lick of Spanish I'll leak a lick how how much is a league in 00 okay and
so when when married to Mary Ann Mary Ann Mary Ann
it's only Marianne set this I can kind of relate because I remember
when I was first coming to Mexico I was like oh my gosh I don't know Spanish and my first thinks Instinct was to drag some family with
Mexican family or I told you about all my family I was the only one that didn't take Spanish
so so far so now let's walk through this let's walk through this because you'll be amazed that
you speak you can speak English practically anywhere you are here and plowed apartment thank you I mean even even your whole trip you get on a plane you're on the plane you're flying you land and of course the announcements are in Spanish but they also announce them in English so you know the same that same girl voice you hear in all the airports in the US
is the same voice you hear in the Cancun airport in English as well so so there is no worries you're you're you're you're not going to have any issues especially when you're in the hard-court tourist spots they never really need to know so he's not as easy as you might think to get out of that area right they explain what you were saying everybody in the Tri-City area I speak English if you are tourist in your visiting this place why you should be out of that area
but some people just do it may you know they just may not feel comfortable I'm assuming in this in her situation or husband is just not comfortable going somewhere where he feels like he's not going to communicate I believe this is something happened most of it work with the American people with people that is big English right where my assistant is saying yes Sushi saying this is like a definite American Ringo type of thinking if I don't know whatever if I plan to go to Brazil or 42 god'll or another country where I don't know that
the language Senegal and what you think you I don't worry to be honest I just think how I'm going to sign and point I want that and try to express myself but you know me and people is getting to know me with this because I'm allowed going personality right oh no cuz he got an outgoing personality

yeah so that's the thing sometimes it's just an issue with our or so if that's what I think what are you thinking what do I think
the reason why I can relate to this question is cuz the wife wants to go to Peru she wants to go see
Machu Machu Picchu
and I was like the first question out of my mouth believe it or not was

do we need to know Peruvian yellow you don't you don't think whatever you want to go to the bathroom if you want to wash your hands will you point you hands and do that shake or so and then if you need to go to one or two did you say one or two with your fingers
I think you got into a little too much detail but that's okay try to help people out of their comfort area now I came to Mexico without knowing a lick of Spanish interesting enough I know just more than a lick in Spanish now
I can do it I have no problem doing but I do understand do you understand I totally understand and I've been talking with you for this from the beginning of this podcast from the idea of setting this and you were mentioning that this is kind of something that you get into it if I would it right that you're struggling with that funny when this came across I immediately wanted to do this immediately want to do this and I really want to get into the detail of you coming to our hotels especially our our hotels are properties will number one I'm going to be honest up front I don't speak a lot of Spanish I think that's enough for Peru and
so every all the staff where the majority of the staff speaks to me in English OK and that's the administrative staff all the management staff and the only ones that
don't speak to me in English are the why sickly the operational people the maintenance guys and in the housekeeping staff I mean aside from that
everybody knows pretty much the English and you know what believe it or not when I'm working with the housekeeping staff I'm able to identify going to
you know like you said use the hand gestures you know when to turn the lock you know what I mean air condition is to do you see no functional that's my favorite one no function so I think your husband would have absolutely no problem the only thing he needs to say is uno mas cerveza yes yes or in any few he really think he might even start spitting out some Spanish if you just says
tequila por pavor for my wife English give her a little get her get her a little get her some wine then she's she's habla English it ended up Podcast with us she could do the podcast porfavor also
what is healthier write to to smooth you to try to loosen you up exactly and I mean it's not that we promote to be drunk all the time so you can speak about what that's like going to a wedding you know how should you sit in the chair and do nothing and then you few drinks later you're dancing and you're doing the and then you see the video on the photos and then you don't remember
but so all right so you landed can't go in as I mentioned you get your your bags and go through customs to go through immigration and you get in the taxi or however the boss so far everyone is speaking English or English for the only have to reach for those cerveza por pavor at this point I use Beauty and still although when you get outside the first thing they sell you
Teresa and there's a bar right outside the airport the minute you walk outside and the humidity goes yeah you need to drink a cerveza para you can take it so yes and then you take that however Transportation you take the transportation you take the driver there's a good 90% chance the driver knows enough English to have a conversation with you
and it takes 40 45 minutes to get from Cancun to Playa del Carmen or one of our properties and you show up at the front desk and guess who is at the front desk 100% hardcore English they got it I got you covered so I mean you're here all the everything you going to sign is in English everything all the if you have a check in for more sign of warm is all in English in English in Spanish I gave away your first child you know and this is a regular paperwork for any place that I made you walk in you sign the documents all in English and and it's here it's an English as well to think and Spanish is so there's really no difference
and then once you get in any of our condos everything's in English as well I mean in English and Spanish
even the TV here without the TV here cable TV here mix is mixed so you flip through the channels and sometimes that you can find telenovelas from Mexico yeah well dug the soap opera soap opera thank you so abruptly they are great yes so you flip through the channels and you'll get an English couple Spanish and then a couple English and sometimes sometimes it's just a matter of getting the remote control and there's a button and it would say idiom idiom an idiom means language and you could flip it from English to Spanish right on the remote control so there's a lot of channels here in Mexico where you get to the channel I could be a u.s. channel you're familiar with this and it's in Spanish in your like what was what's going on or just lose some old movie that's moment the perfect moment for
well you're getting to that is there ever a moment not to have the gun while you are visiting know there's always a good so

yes so so that's another piece of covid deaths going to disappear we almost I can't wait for this to disappear I can't wait until I don't ever see him ask again and talk about vaccines and the gear and a half of covid-19
right. It was not good so dark. So we're back to normal the town is back to normal in bile duct Armand masks are not required anywhere they're all optional if you want to wear masks is not mandatory not mandatory it's optional
and now you don't need a covid test to go back to the US and and that's a little bit of a cost savings as well cuz that was you know it 100.
You know you can walk down Fifth Avenue I think you can get them for 10 12 $15 and then you we offer him inside not at that price as we have a real doctor that works on 5th Avenue who's got the Beatles you'll fight night okay after you guys heart surgery at night during the day is out there doing covid20 that's hilarious I love that so yes that's exciting news and yes hopefully the covid is in our rear-view mirror
